Haven't found any comparable google device. I would've bought that too as this is my only Alexa device at home. The fire tv works like google chromecast so this would act like a small tv with alexa for me.
Honestly speaking, it is useless!
Also don't be surprised if Amazon start pushing out ads to it..
Beware, Amazon removed the ability to sideload apps so that guide will not work. There's another way to do it but it's pretty annoying.
Yeah annoying and not local.
I have this and it makes a great TV for the kids room.
The inbuilt camera makes a great nanny cam.
On another note. Why haven’t they discounted the fire tvs this year!!
Been wondering that myself!
Got one as a present recently, was disappointed by how much they restrict apps compared to a normal FireStick (re: COMPLETELY, you can't install anything outside of the store, and even the store, most stuff for FS doesn't download)
BUT
Being the industrious little (profanity) I am, RetroArch can still be downloaded if you already have it in your Amazon library, and although you can't copy files or download them at all, you can FTP them over. So now we have a photo frame that plays music and tells you the weather and most importantly, plays Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Tony Hawk.
With the is google alternative with similar hardware
